Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and yet it is statistically the most frequently skipped meal of the day. Most people ignore the popular advice from Adelle Davis:
“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper”.
But when you wake up just before school or work, who has the time to whip up something delicious, right? So it’s easier to just skip it altogether. However, skipping breakfast does more damage to your body than you realise.
Lucky for you, we have put together our favourite quick and easy breakfast ideas that can be prepared ahead of time or quickly stirred up in the morning.
Here are some healthy breakfast ideas with simple ingredients to have on the go instead of skipping breakfast altogether.
1. Oatmeal with Fruits:
Oatmeal is the easiest and healthiest thing for breakfast you could have in the morning. It is ideal to have if you are trying to lose weight because it is high in fibre. It keeps you full for longer hours so you won’t find yourself grabbing a quick snack at work often.
Plus, it’s simple and customisable; can be cooked in milk or water if you are looking for a vegan option. Moreover, it can be made fun by topping it with your favourite fruits or nuts.
2. Scrambled eggs:
This one is for you if you are not big on grocery shopping because it contains the most basic ingredients which you would surely have.
Eggs are the go-to option for breakfast to sneak up on some protein before your day even begins. What’s more? They can be cooked in under 5 minutes!
3. Good Old Pancakes:
Of course, a breakfast blog is incomplete without the mention of pancakes, and rightfully so, pancakes say “good morning” like nothing else. They are fun, easy to make, and appealing to kids, teens, and adults alike.
4. Toast, but French:
Of course, the classic, but never old, delicious breakfast recipe with items you most likely already have in your kitchen. French toasts are fast and easy, and powerful enough to start your day off healthy.
There are many fancy variations of this basic recipe, although, personally I prefer a simple one, but you can add your own touch to everything topping it with honey or any syrup of your choice.
5. Liquid Breakfast:
For some people, lack of time is not as much of a problem as lack of appetite is; you just can not eat this early in the morning. If you relate to it, this one is for you. If you can’t eat your breakfast, drink it!
Smoothies are nutritious and filling enough for us to start considering them as a proper meal, but again, it depends on what you add to them. This is what I love the most about smoothies; a complete control of the ingredients and the portions in which they go in.
