49 years old, Amir Liaquat Hussain, a bespectacled televangelist as well as MP, died on Thursday in Karachi.

According to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Karachi (East), Muquddas Haider, Hussain’s condition began to deteriorate early in the morning. As a result, he was sent to the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Meanwhile, few assert that he was found dead at his residence. An investigation is under progress.

However, Haider stated that preliminary assessments suggested no foul play; still, the post-mortem examination of the Member of Parliament would be undertaken at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

As a televangelist, Hussain had widespread acclaim among the nation’s increasingly conservative metropolitan housewives, and the advertising revenue generated by his programmes consistently outperformed that of his competitors.
