Clear and brighter skies, leaving changing colours, warm sun, and the cold breeze whispers a certain melody. Yep, you guessed it! It’s that time of the year! Fall days, when you have a long evening ahead of you, call for equally cosy fall movies.
Autumn is just around the corner, it’s only a matter of time before the sun starts going down earlier, and the dark hours elongate.
Hence, we have listed some of our favourite movies to stream when nature’s greens start turning into gold, you would most definitely want to add these fall movies to your list!
1. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Nothing says a warm cosy fall evening more than old Nora Ephron classic movies. Nora Ephron is said to have invented fall with this movie.
The scene where Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal walk through a Central Park vibrant with varying shades of oranges, reds and greens – the foliage alone will make you want to grab a cup of hot chocolate.
Little Women (1994)
Okay, so when I say “Little Women” I do not mean the new movie version released in 2019. Of course, being the latest movie adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s book, it is definitely a delight.
But, the way the older adaptation (1994) makes you want to curl up in your couch with a cosy blanket and a hot beverage, none of the other fall movies can achieve.
Little women is the story of four ladies trying to find their own way in life and each struggling along her way.
Of course, we could not leave out this old-time family watch classic. Fall goes with all Harry Potter movies, since they have a certain nostalgic appeal to them.
Yet there is something about the ambiance reflected by the floating pumpkins during the Halloween scene in the first movie that just gives you all kinds of autumn feels.
Dead Poet’s Society (1989)
We could not make a list of fall movies and not include this classic sentimental piece of art, and what better movie to match the gloomy autumn vibes than this.
Dead Poets Society is a movie in school setting shot in the autumnal New England beauty of Welton Academy, that makes you wish to teleport inside the movie.
Autumn in New York (2000)
Autumn in New York is a sweet American romantic drama film, shot, of course, in autumn. This movie has everything I associate with fall, a leaf-strewn Central Park, small museums, and sweet love-filled memories made by Charlotte and Will.
