Marriage is the bedrock of every strong society

Marriage is a very personal affair. Every marriage is different and has different dynamics but there are some basic principles of marriage that are applicable in every marriage for example one must respect their partner no matter what. In Pakistan, it is surprising to see that husbands are not treating their wives as their best friends and vice versa.

Islam tells us that your wife should be your best friend, your companion, your partner not someone from who you got married for children or so she could take care of your family.

Lawal Mohammed Bani writes “don’t complain unnecessarily, appease her and sympathize with her, do not pick up faults in her body, do not pay attention to slanders and be attentive.” This is what kind of a commitment is required for a marriage to work. No one ever said it was easy.

The duties of a good wife mentioned in religious books and scriptures are look after your husbands belonging, be the place where he can belong, be his companion and advisor as a wife must always have best of interests for her husband & please him in bed.

Good marriages are the bedrock of strong societies. Good marriages create good families which eventually contribute to the community in all aspects. Marriages should not be treated as such and not detached from the society.

“They are clothing for you, and you are clothing for them.”

— [Surah(2) Baqrah: Ayat-187]

You build a strong marriage with transparency. There’s no point in living like an onion with layers upon layers of secrets the other person has to try very hard to unravel.

In a good marriage, you have to be vulnerable. After all, what is the point of having a ‘life partner’ if you can’t be yourself with them?
In marriage, both partners are there for ultimate companionship. Life can be made simpler by trusting your partner and sharing everything with them.

This tough road leads to the most beautiful relationship ever as said by Hazrat Muhammad PBUH

“When a husband and wife look at each other with love, Allah looks at them with mercy”

— {Bukhari 6:19 & Trimidhi 14:79}
